I’m at the halfway point! 20 more weeks and I’ll be at full gestation. 4 short weeks, and baby will be considered worthy of saving, should he or she arrive early. I can do this.
We’ve had so many ultrasounds of this kid that honestly, I’ve lost count. But they’re just quick peeks inside to make sure that my cervix hasn’t shortened, so we don’t get to spend much time with baby. This week was different, however because everyone gets an in depth ultrasound at 20 weeks. It’s the ultrasound that most people find out the sex of their baby, so the 20 week ultrasound is a pretty big deal. We got a whole 30 minutes with the little peanut and it was awesome.
Baby was moving and grooving (which I can feel now!). We also saw baby drinking, which was amazing to watch!
Then the cutie pie decided to suck on it’s thumb.
I wanted so badly to give baby a snuggle because I was dying from the cuteness!
We also got this adorable shot of baby’s lips with an mouth open.
I can’t wait to give those sweet lips a smooch! Actually, I take that back–I can totally wait. Please don’t come until December, baby!
We don’t want to know the sex until the baby’s born, which we told the technician. Then we saw this…
Don’t get too excited folks–it’s a thumbs up. But I had you for a minute, right?
My cervix is still closed, so we have another week’s reassurance that my irritating contractions aren’t actually accomplishing anything. It did my mama heart so much good to see baby just doing it’s thing in there: sucking it’s thumb, drinking because he or she was thirsty, and even giving us a thumbs up, as if to say, “Don’t worry, guys–I’m good!” Being able to feel movements brings a daily dose of peace of mind, which I so desperately needed.
This week has been busy on the home front, as we are finishing up our move and getting our old house ready to be sold. The cleaning crew is at the place now making it sparkle and shine from rooftop to basement. But I wanted to pop on here quick to give everyone a brief update on baby and I. Thank you for all of your prayers, love and support. You all are awesome.
